L-B's Parmelee goes 2-0 on Day 2 at state meet

COLUMBUS – After dropping her first match on Friday, Evie Parmelee set a goal to finish in third place at the OHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships at the Schottenstein Center.Now, she's two wins away from doing exactly that.Parmelee, a senior for Liberty-Benton, went 2-0 Saturday to reach the consolation semifinal at 190 pounds.Parmelee pinned Wayne's Amiyah Murray in 1:44, then scored a 10-1 major decision on Highland's Emma Bolton.That puts Bolton into a rematch with New Philadelphia's Isabelle Ramirez, who pinned Parmelee Friday."I don't think I was focused going into that first match; I don't think I wrestled my best," Parmelee said. "I'm excited to get revenge next round." Parmelee said she was able to reset after the first-round loss."I had that big ambitious goal of being top of the podium," she said, "and unfortunately, after that first match, that went away. So now, I'm fighting, and I'm gonna get there."Parmelee is the only area girl who will place at this year's tournament.Elmwood's Triniti Bechstein went 1-1 Friday, and then was pinned in her match Saturday against North Royalton's Anna Tsirambidis.Findlay's Audrey Whitener was pinned in her consolation match Saturday; she was pinned by Madelyn Simmerman of Little Miami.
