Meet an NYC best-selling author this weekend at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library is offering the following programs the week of March 29 – April 4, 2026: Sunday, March 29 at 2 p.m. at the University of Findlay's AMU Multipurpose Room, meet New York Times bestselling illustrator Jeffrey Ebbeler for an afternoon of family fun! Mr. Ebbeler is the illustrator of our 2026 YouthREAD book for Grades K-2, The One and Only Dylan St. Claire, as well as over 60 other books for young readers. This program is part of our 2026 CommunityREAD series, in partnership with the University of Findlay's Mazza Museum. This event is free, and no tickets are required. Storytime will take place in the Lindamood Room on Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Sing, rhyme, and read, then craft and enjoy activities together. Your child will have so much fun they might not even realize they are learning important skills for future reading! This program's content is geared to preschool-aged children with a caregiver. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program. This week's theme is interesting insects. Teens- join the library on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Lindamood to mix up your own spice blends! Recipes will include hot drink mixes and popcorn seasonings. This program is designed for teens in grades 6-12 and registration is required at findlaylibrary.org/events by clicking on the event for the form. The next session of the Small Business Academy designed to guide entrepreneurs from idea to profitability takes place on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Lindamood Room. This week's focus is profitability analysis. This event will be held in person at The Borra Center for Health Sciences at Rhodes State College, but sessions will be simulcast live to the library. This program is presented by the Ohio Small Business Development Center. Registration is required by clicking on the link in the event at findlaylibrary.org/events. Are you a student between the ages of 10 and 18? Do you love the library and helping people? If so, being a SummerREAD VolunTeen is a great opportunity for you! VolunTeens commit to volunteering once a week on a set schedule. Our 2026 SummerREAD will be June 1st through July 25th and we need your help! Applications will be available at the Main Library at the Youth Services desk, our Arlington branch, and the Bookmobile beginning April 1st and must be returned by April 30th. Drop in for Mini Meet-Up on Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. located in our Early Literacy Center and play with a selection of the library's toys. Explore new games, toys, and activities that are educational and fun while meeting other families. This program is for children with their caregivers. Take part in Starter Storytime fun on Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. We will sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments! This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills and is suggested for children up to 36 months of age with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. Plan to participate and help your child find the confidence to be engaged and have a great time! Join us for Storytime at the Arlington Branch on Wednesday at 11 a.m. We will sing, rhyme, and read, then craft and enjoy activities together with a new theme each week. This week we'll have fun with crazy construction. Creative writers - if you're tired of writing alone, come write with other adults! Bring your own work-in-progress or start fresh with one of our prompts. We meet at Coffee Amici in downtown Findlay on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The 50 North Book Discussion will take a look at A Little Less Broken by Marian Schembari this month on Thursday at 10 a.m. at 50 North, 339 E. Melrose Avenue. Grab your lunch and your sense of adventure; this month, Passport Picnic is headed to China! Join the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library for a monthly midday journey that brings the world to your table. Each session highlights a different country's culture, traditions, cuisine, and everyday life, no passport required. This month, we'll explore Spring Festival (Lunar New Year), the Chinese Zodiac, and the history and strategy of Mahjong. Come travel the world on your lunch break! Join in for art, science, and engineering projects in our Makerspace. This month, we will make friendship bracelets and explore what makes a good friend with staff from the Family Resource Center. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Makerspace for Homeschoolers is at 2 p.m., and Makerspace is at 6 p.m., with both taking place in the Lindamood Room. On Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, spend a relaxing afternoon with us as we present an intriguing WBGU-PBS documentary from 1982, The Story of the Great Black Swamp. We'll investigate the black swamp from its creation during the glacial ages to its transformation into farmland. This program is part of the America 250 celebration.
