FHS offense continues to shine, Trojans rout Shawnee

FINDLAY 16SHAWNEE 9LIMA – The top of Findlay High's batting order continued to batter the ball at a torrid clip and the Trojans won their third straight game on Saturday by outslugging Lima Shawnee 16-9.Monika Kerwin in the lead-off spot, No. 2 batter Ryan Boes and Addi Sprang, batting third, combined for nine hits, scored 12 runs and drove in eight as Findlay upped its record to 3-0 heading into today's home opener with Maumee. Sprang is 7-for-11 in those three games; Kerwin and Boes are both 7-for-13.Kerwin had a single and a solo home run – her second of the season – and scored three times against Shawnee. Boes was 4-for-4 with a walk, lined two singles, a double and a triple, scored five runs and drove in three. Sprang, a senior catcher who was honorable mention all-Ohio last season, had two singles and a triple in three official at-bats, knocked in three runs and scored four.Findlay led 6-3 after two innings, but Shawnee surged ahead with Riley Rhodes' two-run double keying a four-run rally in the bottom of the third.The Trojans were quick to retaliate.Kerwin homered and senior shortstop Delaney Harris added an RBI single when Findlay scored three times in the fourth inning. Boes' two-run single and a sacrifice fly by Sprang highlighted a five-run rally that put Findlay up 14-7 in the fifth.Emma George earned the pitching win in relief, giving up two runs on two hits and striking out four in her five-inning stint inside the circle. The freshman also drove in three runs. Harris (2 RBI) and Laine Bose had two hits each.Rhodes (1B, 2B) drove in three runs for Shawnee. Walker, a sophomore, gave up a double to O-G's Haley Meyer but no other hits in her two-inning stint.L-B's Kylie Modd had two hits – both doubles – and drove in three runs. RIDGEMONT 13VANLUE 3VANLUE – Ridgemont's Brilynn Rudasill hammered two homers and drove in five runs to power the Gophers to a 13-3 win over Vanlue.Braylin Caldwell was the winning pitcher and collected three base hits. Madison Brooks took the pitching loss, but also lined two singles and drove in two of Vanlue's three runs.
