Hammer's goal in OT sends Trojans past Ottawa Hills

BOYS LACROSSE FINDLAY – Will Hammer's second goal of the game – this one with 3:19 left in the overtime period – gave Findlay a 6-5 win over Ottawa Hills Thursday at Donnell Stadium. Hammer's goal sent the Trojans to 4-1 on the season. Goalkeeper Cashel White made eight saves for Findlay, including a game-saver in overtime. Cam Wight added a goal and two assists for the Trojans, while MJ Greenawalt found the back of the net twice. Henry Iten added a goal for FHS. Griffin Lane won 5 of 12 faceoffs against Ottawa Hills, Maddox Robson and Graham Hill each had two goals for the Green Bears. Findlay will be back in action Tuesday at home against Anthony Wayne. BASEBALL FINDLAY 8 ALCOA 7 ALCOA, TENN – Findlay concluded its five-game, season-opening trip to Tennessee by pushing a run across in the top of the seventh and edging Alcoa, 8-7. Cole Hull went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Trojans and drove in three runs. Findlay's Blade Wendt was a perfect 3 for 3 at the dish, scoring three times. The Trojans scored three runs in the first and third, going ahead of the Tornadoes 7-1 after 3 ½ innings. But Alcoa rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fourth, and three more in the sixth to tie the game at 7. Myles Cox tripled and drove in three runs for Alcoa. For Findlay (2-3), Hunter Sertell registered two singles and drove in a run, while Cooper McKanna and Alex Gonzalez each singled and had an RBI. Caleb Kanney started on the mound for Findlay and got a no-decision, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing seven runs on five hits. He walked four and struck out four. Six of the runs were earned. Jackson Flechtner came on in relief and pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He allowed just one hit while walking one and striking out one. Parker Davis started for the Tornadoes and went all seven innings, allowing six earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out eight and walked two. JV BOYS TRACK FINDLAY – Adrian Stechschulte, Joshua Dahike and Nathan Brooks each won a pair of individual events, and Findlay's boys track team knocked off Marion Harding, 101-34. Stechshulte claimed the 400 in 52.51 and the 3,200 in 10:34.19. Dahike took first in the 300 hurdles (46.16) and the high jump (5-6). Brooks won the two throwing events, winning the shot in 38-7 and the discus in 121-9. Also for the Trojans, Phat Tran won the 800 in 2:13.07, while Camden Stechschulte claimed first in the 1,600 (4:50.15). Dominic Burkett won the 110 hurdles in 17.41. Santi Hayes claimed the long jump, registering an 18-4 ½ In addition, Findlay won three of the four relays, with its teams taking first in the 4x200 (1:31.19), the 4x400 (3:46.10) and the 4x800 (8:58.21). GIRLS TRACK FINDLAY – Findlay's girls won all four relays Thursday, and defeated Marion Harding in the team standings, 82-50. The Trojans 4x100 team finished in 52.21, the 4x200 crossed the line in 1:51.97, the 4x400 registered a 4:23.62 and the 4x800 squad won in 10:36.88 Individually, Lexie Steffen paced the Trojans by taking first in the 100 hurdles (18.02) and the pole vault (9-0). Josey Weihrauch ran the 400 in 1:05.01 to win. Natalie Gutman (2:32.05) claimed the 800, while Addison Lobb (57.6) took first in the 300 hurdles. Findlay's Sidney Myers won the high jump, clearing 4-10. Her teammate, Katelynn Carpenter won the long jump in 15-6 ½. The Trojans' Natalie Winans (95-5) claimed the discus.
