Trojans knock off unbeaten Northview, 12-6

FINDLAY 12 NORTHVIEW 6 FINDLAY – Findlay High's softball team rebounded from its first loss in a big way, overcoming an early 5-1 deficit and knocking off unbeaten Sylvania Northview 12-6 on Wednesday in a Northern Lakes League game at Babcock Field. Northview's Aubrey Frazee sparked the Wildcats early, delivering an RBI triple in the first inning and a two-run double in the third. Findlay got three runs back in the bottom of the third inning, then took charge. A two-run double by Davinee Harris fueled a five-run fourth inning that pushed Findlay ahead 9-5. Harris then belted one home run and Addie Sprang hit another – a school-record 18th of her career – as the Trojans padded their lead to 12-5 in the fifth. After having its season-opening seven-game win streak snapped by Sylvania Southview on a walk-off three-run home on Monday, Findlay prepared to face an undefeated Northview (5-0, 1-0 NLL) on Wednesday. The Trojans rebounded well, pounding out 15 hits in climbing to 8-1 overall, 2-1 in NLL games. Avalon Sprang led that assault with four base hits and scored three times. Monika Kerwin had three hits and scored three runs, while Addie Sprang was 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. Harris plated three runs with her double and solo home run. Ryan Bose had three hits and drove in four runs for the Trojans, who face another big test on Friday when they host Toledo Whitmer on Senior Night. Baseball FINDLAY 8 LIMA SR. 1 FINDLAY – Ryan Maas earned a complete game win and three Findlay High players lashed two hits each in powering the Trojans to an 8-1 win over Lima Senior at Woody Curlis Field. Maas, a senior right-hander, allowed one run on two hits and struck out seven in chalking up his first win for the Trojans. Jackson Flechtner doubled, tripled and drove in a run. Luke Crates added two base hits and Grant Emans had a single, a double and knocked in two runs. JOHN'S 5 FINDLAY 0 FINDLAY – Findlay High's boys tennis team ran into a buzz-saw for the second straight day, with Toledo St. John's posting a 5-0 win over the Trojans at the FHS Courts. One day after being swept by Anthony Wayne, the heavy favorite to repeat at Northern Lakes League champion, Findlay took on a St. John's juggernaut that in late March won the St. Edward's Invitational for the second year. The Titans have also swept two previous duel matches by 5-0 scores. In recording a third 5-0 sweep this season. St. John's Miles Green (No. 1) defeated Owen Vick 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Adam Darwich beat Aidan Buddelmeyer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 and Zenonn Zaleski (No. 3) top Ashton Barger 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, Logan McGurk and Sam Roberts (No. 1) scored a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Findlay's Tyler Asel and Jake Best, and Wasay Syed and Nyle Ahmed (No. 2) beat Quinn Tiell and Knox Lindhal 6-0, 6-3. Lacrosse CLAY 11 FINDLAY 7 OREGON – Oregon Clay scored an 11-7 girls lacrosse win over Findlay on Wednesday. Findlay fell to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in Northern Lakes League matches with the setback.
