Hoffman slugs two homers, Elmwood routs Redskins

ELMWOOD 12 ARCADIA 1 ARCADIA – Simply put, it was Addi Hoffman's day. The Elmwood pitcher allowed one run on seven hits Thursday in Arcadia, as the Royals downed the Redskins, 12-1. Hoffman allowed seven hits and struck out five in five innings. But that was only the half of it. At the plate, Hoffman slugged a pair of homers, doubled, scored three times and drove in five runs as Elmwood upped its record to 9-0, 6-0 in the BVC. Trinity Sander added a double, single and two RBIs for the Royals. Mackayla Casey singled twice, scored twice and drove in two runs. Arcadia's (3-4, 1-1 BVC) Addi Colman doubled singled and scored. Worcester walked just one batter and went all seven innings. She was backed by Pirates' leadoff hitter Karleigh Davis, who connected on three singles, scored twice and drove in three runs. Bluffton led 3-1 going to the sixth, then put up three runs to give itself a cushion against the Mustangs. The Pirates improved to 2-2. Lauren Wireman took the loss in the circle for Allen East. For Van Buren, Avery Beall hit a solo home run. She also pitched four innings, allowing six runs, five earned. Beall walked two and struck out two. Vanlue took the lead with three runs in the fifth, and then – after Crestline had tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth – put up six runs and knocked off the Bulldogs 9-3. Madison Brooks was key in the Vanlue win. She singled twice and drove in two runs. She also pitched and went all seven innings for the Wildcats, allowing just one earned run on three hits.
