History fair and extreme weather science this week at the library

The Findlay-Hancock County Public Library has some wonderful programs available the week of April 12 - 18, 2026: Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room, Miss Nicole presents Storytime at the library. Sing, rhyme, and read, then craft and enjoy activities together with a new theme each week. Your child will have so much fun they might not even realize they are learning important skills for future reading! This program's content is geared to preschool-aged children with a caregiver. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program. This week's theme is Knight & Princess party. Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, teens can experience what it's like to be an engineer. Explore architecture using KEVA Planks! KEVA Planks are precision-engineered, identical wooden blocks (approx. .25" x .75" x 4.5") designed for stacking without glue, connectors, or tools. This program is for teens in grades 6-12. Renowned author Brad Taylor will join us virtually to discuss the latest book in his exciting Logan Pike action series, Shadow Strike. This program is presented in partnership with the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts. Mini Meet-Up is scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. in the Early Literacy Center in the Children's Department. Little ones can explore new games, toys and activities that are educational and fun while socializing and making new friends. Join in for Starter Storytime at the library on Wednesday and Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Lindamood Room. Sing, rhyme, read, and have fun with scarves and instruments! This program is designed to foster a love of reading while developing early literacy skills and is suggested for children up to 36 months of age with a caregiver. Older siblings are welcome, too. This program's content is geared to children ages birth - 36 months with a caregiver. Please plan to attend and be engaged with your child/children for this program. Storytime at Arlington is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at our Arlington Branch. Children can hear great stories, do crafts and fun activities. This week, we'll talk about our five senses. On Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office, the Thrills & Chills Book Discussion will take a look at Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. On Thursday April 16 at 6 p.m. in the Lindamood Room, we'll be visited by guests from the Findlay Fire Department and the American Red Cross. They'll teach us what to do during extreme weather. We will also learn the science behind our weather with some hands-on science experiments. This program is for grades 2-6. Children 8 and under should be accompanied by an adult. Do you have a craft work in progress sitting around waiting to be finished and want to spend time with other creative people? Be a part of our monthly craft circle where all crafts are welcome on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Administration Office. On Saturday, April 18 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the lower level of the library, take part in our Local & Family History Fair. Informative presentations, tours, and antique displays will all be featured. Volunteers from the Hancock County Genealogical Society, the John Hancock Chapter of the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Fort Findlay Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will also be available for research assistance.
