Whitmer quiets Findlay's offense

WHITMER 5FINDLAY 0FINDLAY – Toledo Whitmer pitcher Alexis Stoldt quieted a Findlay offense that had averaged almost 11 runs game, shutting out the Trojans on three hits in a 5-0 Northern Lakes League win at Babcock Field on Friday.Findlay got solid pitching as well, but Whitmer (6-4, 1-2 NLL) broke through four runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Panthers outhit Findlay (7-2, 2-2 NLL) 13-3. SHAWNEE 12 O-G 1 LIMA – Lima Shawnee scored in three of the four innings it batted, and it run-ruled Ottawa-Glandorf, 12-1 Friday. The Indians scored seven runs in the third inning to take control. They improved to 9-1; their one loss came to Findlay. Riley Rhodes singled, scored twice and had an RBI for Shawnee. She also shined in the circle, going five innings, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits. Ottawa-Glandorf fell to 1-4, 0-2 in the Western Buckeye League. P. HENRY 24 COL. GROVE 3 COLUMBUS GROVE --Sophie Schwab and Shealin Schmeltz drove in four runs each Friday, and Patrick scored 12 runs in the second inning in a 24-3 drubbing of Columbus Grove. Schwab singled twice and scored three times. Schmeltz had a double, two singles and three runs scored. Patriots leadoff hitter Elisiana Wyandt singled three times, scored four times, and plated two runs. Wyandt was also Patrick Henry's starting pitcher, and picked up the win by throwing three hitless innings, striking out one and walking one. CAREY 17 BLUFFTON 9 CAREY – Carey entered the bottom of the fifth inning tied with Bluffton, 6-6. The Blue Devils quickly broke the game open. Carey scored eight runs in the inning, went up 14-6, and went on to beat the Pirates, 17-9. Tylinn Stoll – the winning pitcher – had three singles and drove in five runs for the Blue Devils, while Autumn Bouillon doubled twice, scored five runs and had two RBIs. Carey leadoff hitter Bayah Harsanje doubled, singled twice, scored three times and drove in two. In the circle, Stoll allowed nine runs, six earned, in six innings. She struck out six and walked one. She had to pitch around seven Blue Devil errors. For Bluffton, Evelym Boyles doubled, scored a run and had an RBI, while Macy Schaadt singled twice and scored twice. Lyla Holtzberger picked up the win in the circle for the Polar Bears. ROSSFORD 12 FOSTORIA 2 ROSSFORD – Lucy Rodriguez homered, and Rossford scored four runs in three separate innings in a 12-2 Northern Buckeye Conference win over Fostoria. Rodriguez also pitched for the Bulldogs, and allowed two hits over five innings. The two runs she allowed were unearned. The Lady Red fell to 0-7, 0-3 in the NBC. MOHAWK 10 McCOMB 0 SYCAMORE – Mohawk's Aubrey Gottfried has established herself as one of the better softball pitchers in northwest Ohio. Against McComb on Friday, she showed why. Gottfried allowed one hit – a double to Journey Scheff – and struck out 13 batters in five shutout innings as the Warriors blanked the Panthers 10-0. Gottfried helped her own cause with a double, a single and two runs scored. Also for the Warriors, Emily Brickner homered, scored twice and drove in two runs and Katie Woodland homered and drove in two runs. SANDUSKY 15 NORTHWESTERN 4 TOLEDO – Upper Sandusky's offense was cooking Friday at the Maumee Valley Country Day Invite against Northwestern in Toledo. The Rams scored in all five innings, banged out 16 hits, and had two homers in a 15-4 trouncing of the Huskies. Kenslee Swavel blasted a three-run homer for the Rams, while Madison Hart connected on a two-run shot. Maddie Wengerd – Upper Sandusky's leadoff hitter – had two singles and drove in three runs, while Ava Saul had four singles, scored three times and had an RBI. In the circle, the Rams' Ella Frombaugh allowed five hits in five innings, striking out a batter while issuing two free passes. She allowed four runs, three were earned.
