Edgerton takes two from Vikings

EDGERTON 6-5LEIPSIC 5-4EDGERTON – First it was Mother Nature. Then it was a stubborn Edgerton team.Fate seems determined to keep Leipsic's Darren Henry on edge, at least for a little while.Henry has been involved with Leipsic baseball since 1992, the last 25 as the Vikings head coach. As head coach, he has compiled an impressive 399-213 career record.Henry seemed assured of achieving that milestone 400th win on Friday when the Vikings took an early 11-1 lead on Delphos Jefferson. Due to inclement weather, though, the game was suspended in the second inning.Saturday offered not one but two more chances with Leipsic traveling to Edgerton for a doubleheader. Edgerton kept the milestone win on hold, though, by posting a pair of one-run wins over the Vikings by 6-5 and 5-4 scores.In addition to 17 sectional and seven district championships, Henry has guided Leipsic to six Putnam County League and four Blanchard Valley Conference titles. He has been named PCL Coach of the Year five times and BVC Coach of the Year on three occasions, most recently in 2021 when he guided the Vikings to a 9-1 league record and a share of the conference crown.The quest for the milestone 400th win continues this week. The Vikings are at Pandora-Gilboa today, host Miller City on Tuesday and Carey on Thursday, and travel to Fort Jennings on Saturday. ADA 5N.
