Eagles hand Royals first loss

L-BENTON 9ELMWOOD 8FINDLAY – Liberty-Benton's Megan Gerken delivered two singles and a home run, drove in four runs and earned the pitching win on Monday when the Eagles upended state-ranked Elmwood 9-8 in eight innings in a Blanchard Valley Conference battle for first place.The loss was the first of the season for Elmwood, which was 14-0 and ranked No. 3 in the state entering the contest. The Royals are 4-1 in the BVC and now tied with Liberty-Benton (11-5, 4-1 BVC). L-B's win also vaulted Arcadia (5-1 BVC) into a share of the BVC lead.
