Trojans roar past Clay

BOYS LACROSSE FINDLAY 23 CLAY 2 FINDLAY – MJ Greenawalt scored six goals and added two assists, Cam Wight put in five goals and two assists, and Jaron Clark recorded a goal and seven assists as Findlay raced past Oregon Clay, 23-2. Will Hammer added four goals for Findlay, which improved to 9-3, 7-0 in the NLL. Noah Gaberdiel found the back of the net three times, while Kasey Pace recorded two goals and two assists. Brayden Breiholz and Henry Iten each recorded a goal for the Trojans, while Draven Wilson had an assist. Cashel West made three saves in goal for FHS. Now, the Trojans will turn their attention to an NLL showdown Tuesday in Perrysburg. The match is set to start at 6:30 p.m. The Yellow Jackets are 9-2, 6-0 in the conference. SOFTBALL FINDLAY 12 DEFIANCE 5 DEFIANCE -- Addelyn Sprang and Findlay's offense wouldn't be denied Thursday at Defiance. Sprang clubbed a pair of homers and drove in half the Trojans runs in a 12-5 non-conference rout of the Bulldogs. The first homer put FHS up 2-0 in the top of the first, but Defiance answered with the runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. But the Trojans had a response for that, scoring six runs in the second, three runs in the third and never looking back. Davinee Harris added a two-run double for the Trojans, who improved to 12-5. Emily Cole collected the win in the circle, allowing five runs, one earned, on five hits in three innings. Natalie Steffes came on in relief and pitched four scoreless, hitless innings. Isabella Rowlson drilled a homer for the Bulldogs. Findlay will host Northview Friday. TENNIS FINDLAY 3 NAPOLEON 2 NAPOLEON – Findlay won all three of the singles matches Thursday in Napoleon, and edged the Wildcats, 3-2. Aidan Buddelmeyer, Findlay's No. 1 singles player, blanked Gabriela Martinez, 6-0, 6-0. The Trojans' Tyler Asel upended Will Roth at second singles, 6-4, 6-0. At third singles, the Trojans' Jake Best got past Napoleon's Cole Wagner, 6-0, 6-0. In the doubles matches, Napoleon's team of Jacob Weber and Jeremy Weber nipped Findlay's Ashton Barger and Grant Basinger, 6-6 (4-7), 6-4, 6-2. In the No. 2 doubles, the Wildcats' duo of Bennet Aderman and Lucas Williamson topped the Trojans' Miles Ary and Quinn Tiell, 6-4, 2-6. 6-3. Findlay improved to 3-2, 4-3 in the NLL.
