FHS boys third, L-B fourth at Elmwood Relays

Track PEMBERVILLE – Findlay placed third and Liberty-Benton fourth in the boys standings and the Trojans were fourth and L-B sixth in the girls portion of the meet at the Eastwood Relays on a wet Friday night on the track.Soni Hines doubled up in the winners circle for Findlay, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.09 seconds and running a leg on the first place 400 relay team that included Zander Shank, Jediah Scott and Greyson Gesier (43.5). Scott and Geiser also teamed with Jack Zoll and Maysen Hetrick to capture the 800 relay (1:32.49).Zoll was also on the third-place distance medley relay with Camdern Stechschulte, Russell Stine and Tyler Strabley (10:58.30). Stine placed third in the 1,600 ( 4:27.89) and Hetrick was third in the long jump (20-2).Liberty-Benton won the boys shot put relay behind three strong throws from Will Granger (3rd, 51-½), Wyatt Myers (5th, 47-8½) and C.J. Barbara (6th, 47-6¼).Cooper Conaway tied for first (6-0) in the high jump and Austin Collert was forth (5-10).Granger also had the fourth best throw in the discus (145-9), and Karson Griffin, Hudson Day, Lane Fannin and Bradan Bell were second (3:29.75) in the 1,600 relay.In the girls meet, Findlay's Josey Weihrauch, Olivia Gayhart, Katelynn Carpenter and Mya Hammer placed second in the 400 relay (49.95) and fourth (1:46.97) in the 800.Weihrauch, Gayhart and Hammer teamed with Anika Helms to finish third in the 1,600 relay (4:11.45), andGabby Brankamp, Laine Clevenger, Megan Guthrie and Abanna Dotson were fourth in the distance medley relay (13:41.31).Lexi Steffen was second in the 300 hurdles (50.47), while Gayhart was first (5-0) and Addison Lobb third in the high jump.Steffen was also second (11-0) and Liberty-Benton's Josie Hochstettler was third (10-6) in the pole vault. L-B doubled up in the throws, with Evie Parmelee second in the discus (116-9) and Paula Schiffner fourth in the shot (32-6¼). GIBSONBURG INVITE GIBSONBURG – Callie Luken and Heavenlei Newson were in on two wins each in helping Elmwood place second in the girls portion on Friday's Gibsonburg Invitational.Luken won the 400-meter run (1:01.00), Newson captured the 30 hurdles (49.82) and both were on the first place 800 relay (1:49.26) with Remmy Donaldson and Lily Good.Elmwood also got a first from Alayna Beasley in the long jump (16-½).Van Buren's Easton Wymer doubled up with second-place finishes in the shot (37-2¼) and discus (123-0). North Baltimore's Ady Reynolds was second in the 1,600 (5:33.77). Tennis OREGON – Oregon Clay used tie-breaker wins in both doubles matches to post a 3-2 victory over Findlay in a Northern Lakes League boys tennis matchup.Clay's Nicholas Nonekowski and Isaiah Kinn outlasted Noah Klink and Grant Basinger 6-4, 6-6 (8-6) at No. 1 doubles and Caden Kaminski and Drew O'Connor (No. 2) defeated Tyler Asel and Zack Barnhart 6-1, 6-6 (7-3).Clay also got a win at No. 1 singles where Elijah Shimman scored a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Owen Vick.Findlay posted singles wins by Aidan Buddelmeyer (No. 2) over Zachary Conley, 6-4, 6-3, and by Ashton Barger (No. 3) over Amir Elsmaili, 6-0, 6-1.Findlay (6-7, 4-4 NLL) is at Perrysburg for an NLL match on Monday, then will host Fremont Ross on Tuesday and Ottawa Hills on Wednesday in preparation for the NLL Tournament May 5-6 at Sylvania Northview.
