H-L girls second at Fostoria

FOSTORIA INV.FOSTORIA – Hopewell-Loudon's Lily Brickner and Ellie Bloom were field events champions and added a relay win as well when the Chieftains finished second on Saturday in the girls standings of the Fostoria Invitational.Brickner went 15-9 in the long jump, Bloom cleared 5-0 in the high jump and both were on the winning 1,600-meter relay (4:28.80) with Lexi Johnson and Savanna Cook. Grace Hintze gave H-L a third field events win in the pole vault (9-0), and Kara Wyman was second in the 1,600 (6:00.95).Fostoria's Maliyah Payne won the 100 (13.14) and Azhzenet Matter was second in the 300 hurdles (48.33). Arcadia's Shia Watkins won the girls discus (121-6) and was second in the shot put (34-0).Hopewell-Loudon (98) was second to Margaretta (124) in the final girls standings. Fostoria was fourth and Arcadia tenth.Seneca East was second to Margaretta in the final event, the 1,600 relay, but earned just enough points in that event to edge the Polar Bears 136-135 for the boys title. ELITE TRAVELOTTAWA – Liberty-Benton and Ottawa-Glandorf won team titles in h Elite Traveling Meet hosted by O-G on Saturday.Karson Griffin figured in three wins and a second and Liberty-Benton doubled up in the shot put ion outpointing Ottawa-Glandorf 141.25 to 117.25 in the six-team boys meet. Columbus Grove was third (98.25) followed by Fort Loramie (61), Minster (456.25) and Wayne Trace (52).Griffin won the 200-meter dash (22.04), was second in the 100 (11.25) and ran on two winning relays, teaming with Bradan Bell, Jonas Frederick and Jaxon Rath on the 800 (1:31.56), and Bell, Hudson Day and Jackson Hochstettler in the 1,600 (3:26.37).Hochstettler was second in the individual 800 (2:011.41), while Will Granger (53-8 ½) and Wyatt Myers (49-3½) went 1-2 in the shot.O-G's Oscar Salsbury leaped 6-6 to win the high jump and anchored the Titans winning 400 relay that included Drew Ornsby, Jessie Ruhe and Trevor Rump (43.84). Grove (123) was second and Minster third (113), followed by Fort Loramie (78), Liberty-Benton (42) and Wayne Trace (28).Grothause was first in the 100 (12.41) and 200 (25.36) ahead of teammates Madeline Liebrecht (13.15) and Emma Heringhaus (26.25) respectively. She also teamed with Heringhaus, Gracie Lammers and Savannah Recker on the winning 400 (49.70) and 800 (1:44.67) relays.Recker (17-4) and Lammers (16-4½) gave O-G another 1-2 finish in the long jump.Grove dominated the girls 1,600, with Liv Mayberry (5:28.65), Sarah Kamphaus (5:29.63) and Maci Maag (5:34.93) taking the top three spots in that event.
