Trojans club three homers, rout Napoleon

Softball FINDLAY 16NAPOLEON 1FINDLAY – Findlay High's softball team played long ball on Monday, belting three home runs in the third inning and four overall in pummeling Napoleon 16-1 in a Northern Lakes League cross-over game at Babcock Field.Findlay led 3-0 thanks to a two-run home run by Davinee Harris in the first inning, then blew it open with a nine-run barrage in the third. Ryan Boes had a grand slam in the big inning, Addie Sprang added a three-run blast and Avalon Sprang had a solo shot. In addition to her grand slam, Boes, a junior outfielder, had two doubles and scored three times.Boes and Addie Sprang both drove in four runs as Findlay, tied for ninth in the Division I state polls, improved to 14-3. Monika Kerwin and Harris had two hits, Avalon Sprang plated two runs with a double and her solo home run, and Addison Hartman had a two-run double.Winning pitcher Emily Cole helped her own cause with an RBI double. The junior right-hander, 6-1 on the season with a 3.56 ERA, gave up just one run on one hit and struck out two in the five-inning game.Findlay now packs up for a four-game road swing with NLL games at Toledo Whitmer on Wednesday, at Perrysburg on Friday and at Springfield on Monday. Lacrosse OREGON CLAY 10FINDLAY 9FINDLAY – In a match marked by huge swings in momentum and played with one eye on threatening weather, Oregon Clay rallied late to edge Findlay 10-9 on Monday in a Northern Lakes League girls lacrosse game at Elmer Graham Stadium.Clay raced to a quick 3-0 lead, but Findlay grabbed the momentum, went on a 7-1 run and led 7-4 at the half.Clay regrouped at the break though, and used a 6-2 edge in the second half to chalk up the win and up its record to 8-4 overall, 4-3 in the league.Findlay's Noah Tesner scored three goals and Mihaya Saito and Greta Zaciewski had two each.
