Rams' Taylor shuts down Bucyrus

BASEBALL U. SANDUSKY 3 BUCYRUS 0 BUCYRUS ---Wyatt Taylor threw a six-hit complete game shutout Monday, striking out nine as Upper Sandusky blanked Bucyrus, 3-0. The Rams had only five hits – all singles – but pushed across two runs in the first and one in the fifth. Taylor made sure that was all the Rams needed. Upper Sandusky first basemen Josh Heilman didn't have a hit, but did drive in two of his teams runs. Sylar Jones singled and scored for USHS, which improved to 6-7, 4-3 in the N10. Quin Ross pitched well for the Redmen, but took the loss. He went all seven innings, allowing three runs with one strikeout and four walks. VAN BUREN 6 ARCADIA 0 VAN BUREN – Canyn Schofield shut down – and shut out – Arcadia Monday, allowing just three hits and striking out eight as Van Buren topped the Redskins, 6-0. Schofield walked four batters, but went seven strong innings as the Black Knights improved to 11-5, 3-1 in the BVC. Will Rampe led Van Buren's offense with two singles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Brady Lance singled, scored and plated a run while Finn Martin singled and had an RBI. For Arcadia (6-8, 3-4), Andrew Williams singled twice. Blayne Colman, who singled, pitched the entire game for the Redskins, going six innings and allowing three earned runs on eight hits. He struck out two and walked two. Track UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky's Arielle O'Flaherty and Jocelyn Leightey doubled up in the middle and longer distances at the Gerald Swankhouse Invitational on Saturday.O'Flaherty won the 200- (26.77) and 400-meter (1:02.86) races and Leightey was first in the 800 (2:31.25) and second in the 1,600 (5:32.12). Jillian Stansbery (13.28) and Jayden Richards (13.51) finished 1-2 in the 100 and Abigail Gottfried (4-8) won the high jump.Upper's Franklin Arnold was a two-event champion in the boys meet, winning the 800 (2:03.77) and teaming with Andrew Leightey, Christian Miller and Henry Minehart to capture the 3,200 relay (8:35.71).
