TENNIS FR. ROSS 3FINDLAY 2FINDLAY – Findlay High's tennis team jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Fremont Ross on Tuesday. The Little Giants rallied for two three-set wins, though, and took another match in overtime to edge the Trojans 3-2 in a Northern Lakes League contest at the FHS Courts.Owen Vick and Aidan Buddelmeyer posted identical 6-1, 6-3 wins, Vick over Charlie Kramer at No. 1 singles and Buddelmeyer over Jack Swinehart at No. 2.Fremont's Carson Lewis defeated Ashton Barger 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, though, and the Little Giants No. 1 doubles team of Brandon Fry and Logan Wensinger outlasted Tyler Asel and Jake Best 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.Fremont's clincher was a 6-3, 6-6 (7-4) No. 2 doubles decision by Chase Culbertson and Casen Schwochow over Quinn Tiell and Noah Klink.Findlay is back on the courts today when the Trojans (6-9, 4-6 NLL) host Ottawa Hills. LACROSSE PERRYSBURG 8FINDLAY 7PERRYSBURG – Findlay and Perrysburg went into Tuesday's lacrosse match tied for the Northern Lakes League lead and the two teams played like championship contenders from the start, battling goal for goal before the Yellow Jackets were able to edge the Trojans 8-7 in overtime.Perrysburg, which had won eight of its last nine matches heading into the showdown, improved to 10-2 overall and sits alone atop the NLL standings at 7-0. Findlay, which had won two straight and three of its last four, is 9-4 overall, 7-1 in league games.The two teams will square off again, at Findlay, in their final regular season contest on May 9.Will Hammer scored three goals to lead a balanced Findlay attack on Tuesday. MJ Greenawalt, Jaron Clark, Cam Wight and Henry Iten added a goal each for the Trojans, with Greenawalt (2), Hammer and Jacob Meier getting assists.Griffin Lane was 12-for-19 in face-offs; Cashel West made seven saves in goal.In a back-and-forth game, Findlay led 3-1 after one period of play, but needed Hammer's third goal of the match to tie things 4-4 at the half.Perrysburg's Mac Avery scored his third and fourth goals of the night to power Perrysburg in front 7-5 after three periods. But Findlay rallied once more, cutting the deficit to one on Clark's goal 3:32 into the fourth period, and tying it 7-7 when Wight connected 42 seconds later.The rest of the fourth period – and most of overtime – were scoreless, but Perrysburg's Luke Ozlmek put in the game winner with 20 seconds on the clock.Findlay will have a short time to regroup with another pivotal NLL match coming up Thursday at Anthony Wayne (8-6, 7-2 NLL). Baseball FINDLAY 10COLUMBIAN 1TIFFIN – During its recent run, Findlay High's baseball team has been, well, offensive.Statistically speaking, that's meant in a good way.Findlay racked up double-digit runs for the third straight game on Tuesday when the Trojans rolled to a 10-1 win over Tiffin Columbian.The victory was Findlay's fourth straight and 10th in the Trojans' last 11 games. During that run, Findlay has averaged 8.2 runs a game and, complemented by good defense and solid pitching, has outscored the opposition 90-15.Lead-off hitter Jackson Flechtner and No. 2 man Luke Crates led the assault on Tuesday. They were a combined 4-for-5 with Flechtner scoring two runs and Crates driving in three.
