Carey scores four in 11th to top SE in N10 showdown

EAST 1ATTICA – Carey's Dash Puckett doubled in a run to tie the game in the sixth inning, then capped a game-winning rally in the 11th with an RBI single as the Blue Devils edged Seneca East 5-1 on Tuesday in a Northern 10 Conference battle between league-leading state-ranked teams.Carey, ranked 10th among Ohio's Division VI teams, improved to 14-2 overall and sits alone atop the N10 baseball standings at 8-0. Seneca East, ranked No. 8 in Division VI, is 10-2, 7-1 in N10 play.Hits and runs were few and far between with Carey starter Louis Watkins and Seneca East ace Brady Bloom locked in a pitchers duel from the get-go.Seneca East finally broke through when Bloom laced an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning. Carey tied it in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Puckett.Carey will have little time to savor Tuesday's win. With the home-and-home format used in scheduling in the N10, the two teams will be squaring off again today, this time in Carey. LEIPSIC 12P-GILBOA 0PANDORA – Leipsic's Julian Zuniga and Mill Paniaqua combined on a one-hit shutout in a 12-0 win over Pandora-Gilboa that kept the Vikings unbeaten in Blanchard Valley Conference games (7-0) and tied atop the standings with Liberty-Benton (5-0).Zuniga went the first four innings, allowing just one hit – a single by P-G pitcher Grady Kempf – while striking out six.
