WAYNE 3 FINDLAY – Findlay matched two small early rallies with two game-changing ones later on and knocked off league-leading Anthony Wayne 6-3 on Wednesday in a Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division game at Woody Curlis Field. Anthony Wayne (12-6, 4-2 NLL) entered the contest with a slight edge over Perrysburg (6-2 NLL) in the Buckeye Division standings. Those two schools remain in first place, with Findlay, 13-7 overall, also in the hunt at 3-3. Blade Wendt had a pair of singles, Reece Stillings laced two doubles and both drove in two runs. Luke Crates added an RBI singles for the Trojans, who broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, then tacked on another insurance run in the sixth. Cole Hull earned a complete game victory on the mound. The junior right-hander scattered eight hits, struck out two and walked just one. (14-sub head) OPSMA awards COLUMBUS – Findlay Courier sports editor Zach Baker placed in two categories and sportswriter Dave Hanneman in three when the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association held its annual meeting and awards luncheon this week in Columbus. Sportswriters were judged on articles written and published in 2025. Competing in Division II, Baker placed third in the "game stories" category and fourth in "columns." Hanneman, who joined The Courier staff in 1979, placed third in "news" and "features" and fourth in "game" stories. Hanneman was also third in point totals for Division II "Writer of the Year." Founded in 1972 as the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association, the OPSMA now has 232 media members from across the state.
