Art League announces May members show winners

FINDLAY — The Findlay Art League presented awards for the "May Members Show" at a reception held recently in the gallery. Best of Show was awarded to Scott Sherman for his oil painting titled "Landscape with Butterfly." First place was presented to Crystal Bowman for an acrylic painting called "Gilmore, Greens & Stems." T R Steiner was awarded second place for a soda fired stoneware tea pot titled "I Would Like the Tea That Most Tastes Like Coffee." Third place went to Chong Hui Lee Blanton for her oil painting called "Spingmill Marsh." Two merit awards were presented. Lynn Phillips received an Award of Merit for "Welcome to the Party," an acrylic ink painting. Philip Sugden was presented with an Award of Merit for a graphite drawing titled "Tasmania Landscape 1." Honorable mentions were awarded to Parry Brown for an ink drawing,"Doodle Crow"; Carole Elchert for a photograph, "Bordeaux Delight"; Vicki Knauerhase for a cut paper scene,"Where the Fairies Play"; Judy Scrimshaw for an encaustic paintng, "Smoke on the Water"; and Sarah Harvey for her photo, "Waiting Camels." The artwork is on display in the FAL gallery at 117 W. Crawford St. through May 26. Many of the pieces are for sale. The public can cast votes for their favorite piece through the end of the show for the People's Choice Award. Josh Haudenschield played his Native American pan flutes during the reception.
