Carey music department receives grant

Carey High School Music Department receives a grant from The Joseph Wolph Foundation. CAREY — Carey High School received a grant from The Joseph Wolph Foundation to purchase an electric piano for students to practice on at home. Carey High School offers a one semester piano class for students 9-12 and a Jr. High piano class for 7th grade students. In Piano the students learn where the keys are, where to place their hands and how music is written on the staff. Many of our students continue to play both through conventional music reading and unconventional piano videos. These students work every day for 43 minutes on their piano skills. Some of these students also memorize music after hearing it and will then play it from memory, or play by ear. At Carey we have seen students with unique learning needs able to help regulate their emotions through playing the piano.
