Chamber of Commerce hosting safety council program FINDLAY — The Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, will host the Hancock County Safety Council for a presentation titled "Adult Use Marijuana and Drug Free Workplace" from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Findlay. The event costs $27 to attend and will feature Zach Thomas, director of wellness and education with the Hancock County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board. NAMI Hancock County introduces new classes FINDLAY — NAMI Hancock County is now registering participants for two new mental health education classes starting soon. The Family-to-Family Mental Health Education program is an 8-session educational course for family members, partners and friends of adults living with mental health conditions. The course is designed to help all loved ones understand and support someone living with a mental health condition, while maintaining their own well-being, a release from NAMI states. The program is taught by trained teachers who are also family members who know what it is like to have a loved one living with a mental health condition. The class begins from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and will meet each Wednesday for eight weeks, in the NAMI Hancock County building, 305 W. Hardin St., Findlay. Participants must be 18 or older. The Peer-to-Peer Mental Health Education program is an 8-session educational program taught by trained peer mentors living in mental health recovery. The free and confidential course is designed to encourage growth, healing and recovery among participants while focusing on learning about the brain and body, growing a support group, communicating with health professionals, finding community resources and more. The first class is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2 and will meet every Tuesday for eight weeks, in the NAMI building. Participants must be 18 or older to attend.
