O-G's Grohause wins four district titles at Napoleon

D-III AT NAPOLEONNAPOLEON – Ottawa-Glandorf's Alivia Grothause was a four event district champion and Savanah Recker was in on three firsts when the Titans finished second to Wauseon in the girls team standings at the Division III meet in Napoleon.Grothause won the 100- (12.26) and 200-meter (25.45) dashes, and was on the first-place 400 (49.16) and 800 (1:44.47) relays. Recker won the long jump (17-1¼) and was on the 400 relay with Grothause, Greta Liebrecht and Madeline Liebrecht, and on the 800 relay with Grothause, Gracie Lammers and Emma Heringhaus.O-G's 1,600 relay of Heringhaus, Liana Fortman, Brea Recker and Lammers ran a time of 4:02.06 but was second in a photo finish with Napoleon (4:02.02). Upper Sandusky's 1,600 relay of Jocelyn Leightey, Bailey Hinesman, Madison Miles and Abigail Ault also qualified for the Division III regional in Piqua, placing fourth (4:10.54).Heringhaus also placed second in the 400 (58.03), Brea Recker was third (2:20.71) and Fortman a close fourth (2:20.77) in the 800, Madeline Liebrecht was third in the 100 (12.73) and Lammers finished fourth in the long jump (15-10¼ ).Also advancing to regional for Upper Sandusky were Ariella O'Flaherty in the 400 (3rd, 1:00.02) and Shiloh Shasteen in the pole vault (4th, 9-0).Fostoria's Daishaughn Settles added another district title to his resume by winning the high jump (6-5) during Saturday's Division III final at Napoleon. Daishaughn had won the long jump on Thursday.Fostoria's Travell Coleman also qualified for the Division III regional at Piqua by placing fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.01).Ottawa-Glandorf's Cooper Fischer and Oscar Salsburey qualified for regional in two events, with Fischer winning the 1,600-meter run (4:33.31) and placing third in the 3,200 (10:09.32) and Salsburey finishing second in the 110 hurdles (15.20) and third in the high jump (6-0).Wyattt Croy was district runner-up in the 800 (1:59.29), Drew Ormsby was third in the 200 (23.43) and Trevor Rump was fourth in the 100 (11.28). O-G also advanced its 400 relay that was third (44.44). D-V AT ADAADA – Columbus Grove did not have a ton of first-place finishes at Saturday's Division V track meet at Ada. The Bulldogs doubled up in several events though, especially the distance races and the hurdles, and outlasted perennial state power Minster 138-121 to win the girls team title.Sarah Kamphaus was second in both the 1,600 (5:34.60) and 3,200 (12:11.91), with teammates Lily Montgomery in the 1,600 (3rd, 5:37.92) and Alexa Kmaphaus in the 3,200 (6th, 12:42.70) doubling up Grove's points in those events. Liv Mayberry was second (2:22.78) and Devanie Pingle third (2:26.33) in the 800.Bree Closson was second (15.59) and Brynn Calvelage fourth (16.75) in the 100 hurdles, and Kendal Palte first (45.55) and Closson fifth (47.88) in the 300s.Grove also did well in the relays with Pingle, Mayberry, Palte and Jade Roeder winning the 800 (1:45.96), Roeder, Plate, Brynn Halker and Allison Thompson placing second in the 400 (51.41) and Roeder, Pingle, Palte and Mayberry finishing third in the 1,600 (4:08.86). Roeder was also fourth in the 200 (26.69) and Lauren Martz was second in the discus (113-0).Riverdale got another solid meet from Marissa Bonham. The Falcons' junior won the 200 (26.35) and 400 (58.60) and anchored the runner-up 1,600 relay (4:05.86) that included Paige Vent, Emma Kemmere and Tamijah Altvater.Kemmere, Vent, Altvater and Seneca Wentz also qualified for regional by finishing fourth (1:49.89) in the 800 relay.Due to a larger number of teams in the field than other districts, the top six placers in the girls meet earned the right to advance to regional competition. Several athletes were able to take advantage and punch their ticket to Fostoria with sixth-place finishes at district, including Riverdale's Tamijah Altvater in the 100 (13.24) and 200 (27.43) and Paige Vent in the 800 (2:36.00), Ada's Anna Conley in the discus (101-11) and Rose Baxter in both the 400 (1:02.22) and as a member of the Bulldogs' 400 relay team (53.10) that included Kayla Coleman, Charliegh Entinghe and Jordyn Smith, and Pandora-Gilboa's Brianna Hoffman in the long jump (16-1½) and Ashley Draper in the discus (5th, 102-1). BOYS MEETColumbus Grove's Trevon Baxter added another district title to his collection and had regional qualifying success in two other events during Saturday's finals at the Division V track meet in Ada.Baxter won the long jump on Thursday and added a victory in the 400 relay on Saturday when he and Jarrod Holland, Brody McCluer and Gavin Baxter ran a winning time of 43.69. Baxter also placed second in the 100 (11.30) and 200 (22.60) sprints.Grove also got a first from Caiden Squillante in the 1,600 (4:32.33), a first and a third from Gavin Baxter (15.08) and Brock Shafer (16.08) in the 110 hurdles, and a 1-2 finish by Preston Ellerbrock (6-6) and Holland (6-0) in the high jump. Holden Hartzog was third in the 3,200 (10:21.96) in helping Grove score 129 points to beat out Marion Local (81) for the boys team title. Pandora-Gilboa was fourth, Hardin Northern ninth and Ada 12th.Riley Newton had a big day for Hardin Northern. The 2025 state placer won the 400 (50.27) and also qualified for this week's regional at Fostoria by placing third in the 100 (11.56) and fourth in the 200 (23.29). HN's Jake Cook was fourth in the high jump (5-10).Ada's Kayleb Hickman is regional bound in the sprints after placing third in both the 200 (22.96) and 400 (51.90).Pandora-Gilboa's Camden Verhoff was second in the 300 hurdles (41.16) and led off the runner-up 1,600 relay team (3:25.89) that included Andrew Webster, Chase Meyer and Landen Moore. Meyer also finished fourth in the 400 (52.71) and P-G's Adam Buell was fourth in the 800 (2:00.00). D-V AT GIBSONBURGGIBSONBURG – McComb's Carter Frater continued his winning ways at the Division V district track meet at Gibsonburg on Saturday.After setting a district record in the long jump on Thursday, Frater turned his attention to the track on Saturday and raced to a time of 14.54 in winning the 110-meter hurdles. Frater also anchored the district championship 800-meter relay (1:32.48) that included Kahle Drown, Jackson Hepperly and Zaiden Gonzalez, and ran a leg on the second-place 400 relay (44.43) that included Hepperly, Gonzalez and Gracin Romero.Gonzalez also posted a regional qualifying performance by placing second in the 200 (23.26). McComb's Brody Gallagher was third in both the 110 (16.54) and 300 (42.85) hurdles.Cory-Rawson's Nathaniel Gregorowicz won the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.54. Wyatt Foust was third (10:46.05) and Micah Benedict fourth (10:47.52) in the 3,200 run.Hopewell-Loudon's Aiden Ewald, who won the discus on Thursday, came back on Saturday and added the shot put title to his list of accomplishments with a throw of 54-6¾. H-L's Ian Bloom placed second in both the 800 (2:05.79) and 1,600 (4:32.33).Area schools made a strong showing in the district high jump on Saturday, with North Baltimore's Rhys Williams placing first (6-2), Arcadia's Aiden Cline second (5-10) and Cory-Rawson's Wyatt Leatherman fourth (5-9).In the girls meet at Gibsonburg, Arcadia's Shia Watkins and Van Buren's Easton Wymer made it another elite finish for area throwers. After finishing 1-2 in the shot put on Thursday, Watkins added a second district title by winning the discus with a throw of 132-3 on Saturday. Wymer was a close second at 131-5.With the top six placers advancing due to the number of girls teams in the Gibsonburg District, McComb's Claire Bryan (95-3) and Hopewell-Loudon's Laura Cook (94-6) punched their ticket to regionals by finishing fifth and sixth.McComb's Makenah Hepperly was first (16-5½), Hopewell-Loudon's Lily Brickner was third (16-1½) and North Baltimore's Atlee Rowlinson was fifth (15-4¾) in the long jump.Van Buren qualified three relays teams to regional, with Ellie Scoles, Samantha Busey, Maddie Hudak and Kaitlyn Homan placing fourth in the 400 (53.21) and sixth in the 1,600 (4:24.74). Scoles and Busey also teamed with Serenity Ferguson and Taylor Smith to place sixth in the 800 relay (1:54.34).Homan was fourth in the 800 (2:27.25) and Hudak was fifth in the 300 hurdles (52.25). Van Buren's Kami Bowman was district runner-up in the 100 (12.58).North Baltimore's Ady Reynolds qualified for the regional in three events, placing fourth in the 1,600 (5:29.64) and fifth in both the 800 (2;28.51) and 3,200 (12:11.04). D-V AT COLONEL CRAWFORDNORTH ROBINSON – Arlington qualified all three of its relays for this week's regional meet at Fostoria and placed second in the boys team standings at the Division V district track meet held at Colonel Crawford High School on Saturday.Lucas McLroy was second in the 200 (23.55), Cuyler Rausch was second in the 400 (50.99) and Trenton Heacock doubled up in the hurdles for Arlington. Heacock was third in the 110 hurdles in 16.03, just .01 ahead of teammate Calvin Willow (16.04). Heacock placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (52.51), and Braylon Rucker was fourth (11.77) in the 100.Arlington was second in the 800 (1:32.37) and 1,600 (3:31.91) relays and third in the 400 (54.41). The top four positions in each event qualified for regional competition.Carey's won a pair of district championships on Saturday, with Tripp Phoenix finishing first in the 100 (11.16) and Landyn Miller winning the 800 (1:56.81). The Blue Devils also qualified for regional in the 800 (3rd, 1:32.51) and 1,600 (4th, 3:35.41) relays. Relay team members were not included with meet results.Carey's Fisher Montgomery placed third in the pole vault (12-0) and Mace Puckett was fourth in the discus (147-0). Vanlue's Owen Roszman earned a regional bid by finishing fourth (24.05) in the 200.In the girls met at Colonel Crawford, Arlington doubled up in the sprints and sprint relays in finishing third in the team standings.Alexis Grieser swept both sprint races, winning the 100 in 12.70 and the 200 in 26.00. The Red Devils also took the tape in the 400 (51.08) and 800 (1:47.77) relays, and got third-place finishes from Callie Hartman in the both the 100 (13.10) and the 100 hurdles (4.89).Carey had a two-event district champion in Elysa Holsinger, who won the 100 (16.53) and 300 (46.27) hurdles.Addison Baldridge was second in the 400 (1:02.78) and Ema Ritter was third in the 800 (2:30.67). The Blue Devils also placed second in the 800 (1:49.24) and 1,600 (4:5.47) relays. D-V AT AYERSVILLEAYERSVILLE – Leipsic's Sydney Apple won an individual title with a throw of 111-10 in the girls discus at the Division V district meet held at Ayersville.Leipsic had three second-place finishes as well, Trevor Stuber in the 100 (11.08) and Marquis Williams in the 400 (51.64) in the boys competition, and Elliannah Hiegel in the girls 400 (1:00.84).
